CU ��������’s CUbit Quantum Initiative and AB Nexus Initiative recently hosted scientists, engineers and healthcare professionals discussing the emerging intersection of quantum technology and healthcare and future CU ��������-CU Anschutz collaborations.

Computer science professor Nikolaus Correll and his lab at CU �������� have been awarded $1.8 million by the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) to help establish a circular supply chain for domestic electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

In a new study, planetary scientists at CU �������� have begun to unravel the factors that kick off major dust storms on Mars. Heshani Pieris, lead author of the study, said the findings are a first step toward forecasting extreme weather on Mars, just like scientists do on Earth.

Kristi Anseth, a Distinguished Professor and Tisone Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was awarded the prestigious prize in recognition of her pioneering research in tissue engineering. From Dec. 9 to 13, tens of thousands of people from more than 100 countries gathered in Washington D.C. for the 2024 meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Scientists from across CU �������� attended the event to share their research about Mars' dust storms, health impact of wildfires, the fate of Arctic sea ice and more.

For the first time, an international research team, including CU �������� climatologist Alexandra Jahn, used computer models to predict when the first ice-free day could occur in the northernmost ocean. An ice-free Arctic could significantly impact the ecosystem and Earth’s climate by changing weather patterns.
