Notable Accomplishments:
- Recognized in 1978 by the Annals of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) as one of its most productive scholars in the "Past Third Century".
- Co-created the award winning documentary, "Water, We Best Care" and his follow up documentary, "Western Slope Pressure Cooker" was nominated for an Emmy Award.
- Awarded the 1978 Alumni Recognition Award.
- Awarded the Robert L. Stearns Award in 1980.
- The Geography Seminar Room was named in his honor for his many year of dedicate service when he retired in 1983.
Professor Emeritus M. John Loeffler passed on June 1, 1999 at the age of 83.
