By observing and analyzing the health, behavior, and cognitive changes in aging primates, my research aims to uncover parallels between primate and human aging. This work can contribute valuable insights into age-related diseases, longevity, and improving the quality of life for elderly primates in captivity. Over the past ten years, I have explored how historical processes have shaped the genetic structure of mixed Chilean populations. This transition created the family-farm-as-business model that became the backbone of the U.S. agricultural economy until the 1980s. I am particularly interested in the factors that influenced farmers to make this change and the impact it had on household finances, health conditions, community socioeconomics, and landscapes.
